Disappointment For Pakistan: UAE Likely To Reject PCB's Bid To Host PSL

Digital Desk: The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) plans to host the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are facing major hindrances.

A source close to the developments in the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) revealed that it is likely to disapprove PCB's request to hold remaining PSL matches in UAE.

The source cited 'security concerns' potentially emerging from the rising tensions between India and Pakistan following India's 'Operation Sindoor', which destroyed 9 terror establishments in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The source stated the ECB maintains a strong bond with BCCI in recent years having hosted the 'India' edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as India matches during Champions Trophy 2025.

The UAE has a diverse South Asian population which enjoys cricket, the source added. Hosting PSL in the midst of such situations could disturb harmony, pose security risks and stir unnecessary friction between communities, it further said.

Dubai is the headquarters of the International Cricket Council (ICC), which is currently headed by Jay Shah.

PCB on Friday announced that the last eight matches of PSL would be moved to the UAE, following the cancellation of a match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
