Digital Desk: Renuka Singh of India got selected as the ICC Emerging Women's Cricketer of the Year 2022 for her excellent seam and swing bowling.

Renuka won after defeating Australia's Darcie Brown, England's Alice Capsey, and her compatriot Yastika Bhatia. Renuka, 26, got 18 ODI wickets at 14.88 with an economy of 4.62 and 22 T20I wickets at 23.95 with an economy of 6.50 in 29 white-ball matches.

Renuka, who emerged into the scene for India in a busy 12 months, became a thorn in the Australian line-up during the seven T20Is. Her exploits in the Commonwealth Games and the Asia Cup further cemented India's position as the rightful successor to veteran Jhulan Goswami.

She made waves with her bowling at the Commonwealth Games last year, returning with four wickets against Australia. She shook up Australia's top order, taking the wickets of Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Tahlia McGrath.

Renuka ended 4/18 with 16 dot balls as Australia faltered to 34/4 before eventual CWG gold medalist Australia clawed their way back into the game. She got nominated to India's squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, Tahlia McGrath of Australia is awarded the ICC Women's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022. McGrath scored 435 runs at an average of 62.14 in 16 matches and took 13 wickets. She won the ICC title by defeating India opener Smriti Mandhana, Pakistan all-rounder Nida Dar, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine.
