Ranchi: Indian opener Rohit Sharma hit maiden centuries in the ongoing Test Cricket today at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. The opener became the first Indian opener to register two 150-plus scores in a single test series.
Rohit also became the fourth Indian batsman to be able to score double century against and the first Indian batsman to score over 500 runs against South Africa. The previous best in a Test series was 388 runs scored by former captain Mohammad Azharuddin in 1996-97.
It is worthy to be mentioned that Rohit had shared a 267-run partnership with Ajinkya Rahane in rescuing India from a top-order collapse on day One. He also became the leading six-hitter in the ongoing World Test Championships on the first day of the series.
