Digital Desk: Karun Nair, a cricketer who became the second Indian batter after Virender Sehwag to score a triple century in Test cricket, will once again don the India whites almost after 8-long years.
The 33-year-old Karnataka-born batter Karun Nair will feature in the upcoming Test series against England starting June 20.
He last appeared donning an Indian jersey in March 2017 against Australia in Dharamsala.
He etched his name into history in the year 2016 when he scored an unbeaten 303 against England in Chennai.
However, he had to wait to play for the country by 2017 as he was dropped from the national team.
Over the next eight years, he gave his best in domestic cricket, showing his incredible resilience and determination towards the game.
His emotional tweet went viral across social media platforms, showing his preparation and willingness to grab a second chance. Taking to X, he wrote on December 10, 2022, "Dear cricket, give me one more chance."
His manifestation comes true as three years later the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) named Karun Nair for the upcoming Test series against England.
Nair scored 863 runs in 9 Ranji Trophy matches with four centuries and 779 runs in 8 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches with five centuries in the 2024-25 domestic season.
His brilliant domestic performance helped him to earn a second chance in Test cricket.
After a three-year pause, he also made his return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Delhi Capitals this season.
Finally, he will once again wear the national jersey, for which he waited almost 3000 days.
His story of rising, falling and again rising will inspire thousands of young cricketers to never lose hope and keep working.
