    Digital Desk: Former world no.1 tennis player, Maria Sharapova, has given birth to a baby boy named Theodore. The five-time Grand Slam champion announced it on her Instagram page. Sharapova posted a photo of herself, her newborn son Theodore, and fiance Alexander Gikes.


    The tennis celebrity claimed in her post that the baby was the most beautiful, challenging, and gratifying gift for her small family.  “The most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding gift our little family could ask for,” she wrote. Sharapova used Roman numerals in her Instagram post to announce the baby’s birth date. The newborn boy was born on July 1, according to the post.


    Theodore is the 35-year-old athlete’s first kid with Gikes, a 42-year-old British businessman. In December 2020, the pair made their engagement public.


    Sharapova announced her pregnancy in February. The tennis champion, who announced her retirement in February 2020, shared the great news on her Instagram page. Her 35th birthday coincided with the revelation.


    Sharapova announced her pregnancy with a cheerful image of herself on a sunny beach. “Precious beginnings!!! Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty,” she captioned her post.


    She is one of just ten women in the world to have won every significant singles title throughout a stellar Grand Slam career. When Sharapova was 17 years old, she won her first major victory at Wimbledon in 2004. She won the US Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, the French Open in 2012, and again in 2014. In addition, she won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
