Digital Desk: Neeraj Chopra, a star Indian javelin throw athlete, made history on Thursday by becoming the first Indian to win the renowned Diamond League trophy, a top-tier athletics competition, with a best throw of 88.44 m, clinching one of his career's biggest wins. Chopra began with a foul, but in his second attempt, which turned out to be his winning throw, he went to the top of the list with a throw of 88.44m, his fourth career best.

Meanwhile, Jakub Vadlejch took the lead with a throw of 84.15 meters. With a fantastic throw of 88.44 meters in his second attempt, Neeraj re-entered the race and raced to the top of the leaderboard. Vadlejch was chasing him with a throw of 86.00 m.

The Olympic gold medalist continued with the momentum gained during the previous throw, throwing the javelin to a distance of 88.00m. Throughout the athletes' third effort, he kept the lead. His nearest opponent, Vadlejch, lost momentum after his throw was ruled a "no throw." The fourth attempt saw Neeraj throw the javelin to a distance of 86.11 m. Neeraj was still in the lead at the end of the fourth attempt, with Vadlejch being his closest rival with a throw of 86.94m in his fourth attempt.

Neeraj threw the javelin 87.00 meters away. He was still in the lead after five attempts by all competitors, with Vadlejch pursuing him with an 83.95 m throw on the fifth attempt, although he was still pretty far behind the famous Indian athlete. With one effort remaining, Neeraj appeared to be on track to make athletics history for India. His last attempt covered 83.60 meters. Chopra won the final with the best throw of 88.44 m, which came on his second attempt. Other competitors had plenty of time to surpass Chopra, but they were unable to do so this time too. Vadlejch missed his final opportunity after fouling his throw.

Earlier in August, Chopra clinched the javelin throw competition at the Lausanne Diamond League with a best throw of 89.08m.  Chopra became the first Indian to win the prestigious Diamond League Meeting championship with his best throw of the event in Lausanne. After this victory, Neeraj earned a spot in the Diamond League Finals.
