Guwahati: North east united FC (NEUFC) became the winner of the match held yesterday at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in the city against Odisha FC. The home team won by 2-1 goal in their second match of the season and first at their home ground.
In the second minute of the match, even though Redeem Tlang scored for the home side yet NorthEast goalkeeper Subhasish Roy had to struggle to keep the Odisha attackers at bay. The opponent team also scored a goal to equalize with the home team but was soon disappointed when Odisha’s Delgado was shown a red card immediately for a foul.
Meanwhile, in the 85th minute, Ghanian footballer Asamoah Gyan scored a goal which was his first Indian Super League (ISL) goal, thereby clinching the NEUFC a win. NEUFC got their first win of the sixth edition of ISL in front of their home fans after their earlier match ended in a goalless draw against Bengaluru FC.
