T20 World Cup 2022: Pakistan beats South Africa by 33 runs; hopes still alive to enter Semi-finals
South Africa fell 33 runs short of the modified target, as Pakistan dominated the race for the semi-finals.

Digital Desk: Pakistan defeated South Africa by a 33 runs win today (November 3) in a crucial match in the 2022 T20I World Cup match at Sydney. Pakistan scored 185 runs while batting first despite losing 9 wickets.

South African batters got off to a poor start, and then wickets kept falling after the downpour, leading to Pakistan's 33-run victory over the Proteas.

Fantastically played by the team, with this Pakistan keeps its T20 World Cup quest alive.

Anrich Nortje was the primary bowler for the Proteas, sending four players to the pavilion. The other four bowlers — Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Tabraiz Shamsi — each took a single wicket.

South Africa, like Pakistan, lost early wickets and subsequently lost momentum. Apart from captain Temba Bavuma (36), no other player scored more than 30 runs.

After the game resumed, South Africa was 15 runs behind according to the D/L method, and the revised target was 73 runs from 30 balls.

However, as a result of Pakistan's pressure and smacking bowling attack, the Proteas batting order crumbled, and got dominated by Pakistan as they won the match by 33 runs.

Pakistan won another T20 World Cup match against South Africa, proving its steadiness. The team performed great in batting and also in batting. Due to the weather, the DLS method was used in the game.

Shadab Khan was named Player of the Match for his all-around performance.

Pakistan has risen to third place after scoring four points in two games. Importantly, their net run rate is currently +1.117, which is higher than India's. It indicates that if Pakistan beats Bangladesh in their final Super 12 game on Sunday and Zimbabwe pulls off a nice surprise against India, Babar Azam and team may just make it to the semi-finals.
