Digital Desk: At the 2022 Commonwealth Games, India Women's semi-final
match versus England got off to a fast start on Saturday thanks to a scorching
half-century from Smriti Mandhana. In just 23 pitches, the left-handed batter
at Birmingham's Edgbaston stadium reached the 50-run threshold. She attacked the
game from the start. The Indian vice skipper shattered her own mark for the
quickest fifty by an Indian hitter in T20 Internationals ever.

61, Mandhana, who began with Shafali Verma, hammered the opposition bowlers
with eight fours and three sixes. The daring player had before scored a 50 off
just 24 balls in a 2019 match against New Zealand. Notably, Mandhana also holds
the record for the third-fastest T20I fifty by an Indian. In an earlier matchup
with England in 2018, she had reached the milestone in 25 deliveries.
