Sourav Ganguly Breaks Silence amid controversy over BCCI President
Ganguly has clarified the situation about the rumours. Here's what he stated at a Thursday private event, read below to know more...

Digital Desk: Sourav Ganguly, the current BCCI President, broke his silence for the first time amid allegations of his unwillingness to quit the role. Ganguly, who has served as a BCCI administrator for the previous three years, was offered the IPL chairmanship but he politely declined.

His reasoning was that he could not accept becoming the head of a sub-committee of BCCI after heading the same institution. According to sources, he expressed desire in staying in the role.

Amid all this, Ganguly set the record straight on the rumours, here's what he said on Thursday at a private event: "I have been an administrator, and I will go on," he stated during the gathering. "No matter what you do in life, your best days are when you played for India." I was president of BCCI and will go on to larger and better things. You cannot be a player or an administrator indefinitely. It's been a pleasure doing both."

"I never believed in history, but the perception in the past was that the east lacked the talent to compete at that level." You don't become an Ambani or a Modi overnight. "You have to work for months or years to get there," he added.

Ganguly also mentioned his captaincy term. "The team was led by six captains. When Rahul was almost dropped from the one day side, I spoke up for him. I choose the squad based on their suggestions. In a collaborative context, these things are observed," he remarked.

"It's more than just the runs I've scored. Other things are remembered by people. "It's what you do as a leader for them," the outgoing BCCI president remarked.

Former India allrounder Roger Binny filed his nomination for BCCI president on Tuesday and is expected to be elected unopposed because no other contender has emerged as a competitor.
