Baddi (Himachal Pradesh): Assam’s top boxer Shiva Thapa advances to the semifinals in the ongoing fourth National Boxing Championship being held in Himachal Pradesh. In the quarter final match held yesterday, Shiva Thapa defeated Delhi’s Yogesh Tokas 4-0.
It is worthy of mentioning that Shiva Thapa was the youngest boxer ever to qualify for the Olympic at the tender age of 18, who began his fighting bout in 2005. Since then, it has been an exhilarating journey for the 25 year-old boxer having clinched gold medals at national and international level on several occasions.]
In the semi final match, Shiva will face Abhishek Yadav from Uttar Pradesh. However, another boxer from Assam Tonmoy Duara had to face defeat in the ongoing competition.
On the other hand, Rohit Tokas also advanced to the semifinals in the 75 kg category by defeating bronze medal winner of Asian Championship, Ashish Kumar 4-1.
