Digital Desk: Yuvraj Singh, the former India cricketer, criticised the Sunrisers Hyderabad star player for his dismissal during their IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians. Despite a remarkable performance by Abhishek Sharma, Yuvraj criticised him for the way he got out, likening it to ignoring warnings. Abhishek's rapid half-century set records, but Yuvraj's scolding highlighted the need for better shot selection.
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored the highest-ever IPL total of 277 for 3 against the Mumbai Indians before winning by 31 runs in a power-hitting match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium that perplexed bowlers on both sides. Abhishek Sharma, a left-handed SRH batsman, was also among the standouts on matchday. Abhishek got 63 runs from 23 balls, including three fours and seven sixes. He completed his half-century in 16 balls, the fastest by any SRH hitter in IPL history.
"Waah sir Abhishek waah, great innings but what a splendid shot to get out on! Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi maante! Special (slipper emoji) waiting for you now @IamAbhiSharma4," wrote Yuvraj on X.
"To be honest, I didn't realise that it was the fastest fifty for SRH and for this year. I just wanted to go and express myself, and after getting out, I realised that it was the quickest. I enjoyed it," said Abhishek Sharma after the match, as quoted by PTI.
