Digital Desk: According
Digital Desk: Rain is expected to
disrupt the second T20I of the three-match series between India and South
Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati later on Sunday. Accuweather
predicts that Guwahati will experience heavy thunderstorms with three hours of
rain. Tickets for the match have been sold out at the Barsapara Stadium, but
fans are likely to be disappointed because the match may not take place. The
stadium's previous international match had also been canceled due to rain.
Meanwhile, the organizers have
stated that they have made every effort to minimize time loss in the event of
rain.
The Assam Cricket Association (ACA)
has imported from the United States two "extremely lightweight" pitch
covers. It already has around 20 covers on hand.
"These imported covers ensure
that no water or moisture seeps into the pitch," said ACA secretary Devajit
Saikia.
The last international match at
Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium was a T20 match between India and Sri Lanka on
January 5, 2020, which was canceled due to persistent rain.
India recently played a shortened
match in Nagpur due to rain. India defeated Australia in an eight-over-a-side
match.
India enters the match with a 1-0
series lead and will look to wrap things up in Guwahati.
On Tuesday, the series' third and final match will be played
in Indore.
