Elon Musk intends to hire engineers in India to 'decentralize' Twitter

Digital Desk: Elon Musk has completed the Twitter layoffs and plans to hire more people. Musk revealed his plans to hire more people in the engineering and sales departments during a hands-on meeting with Twitter employees. According to The Verge, Musk announced during the discussion that he wanted to decentralize Twitter by establishing engineering teams in Japan, India, Indonesia, and Brazil.

During the meeting, he stated that Twitter's technology stack must be rebuilt from the ground up. He also stated that "somewhat decentralizing things" is a good idea. Musk also hinted at establishing engineering teams in India as part of this. The report does not say who Musk intends to hire as engineers or sales executives. He did, however, emphasize the importance of hiring software engineers who are skilled at writing code, calling it the "highest priority."

According to reports, Elon Musk held this meeting on the same day that Twitter announced unannounced job cuts in its sales department. The majority of the senior management in the sales department has already been laid off.

New Benefits for Twitter Employees

Musk also discussed the compensation benefits that will be provided to current Twitter employees. He claimed that they would be paid in stock options and that they would have the opportunity to liquidate those stocks on occasion. Musk's other company, SpaceX, operates in a similar manner.

Musk praised Twitter's presence in Japan during the meeting. He even claimed that Twitter is not primarily focused on the United States. In fact, he claimed that it is Japan-centric, with roughly the same number of daily active users as the United States despite having a much lower population.

 Elon Musk's Twitter has gone through a series of layoffs, beginning with the departure of former CEO Parag Agrawal and ending with contractual workers. The relaunch of the Twitter Blue subscription appears to be causing problems for the company. Musk had postponed the relaunch until November 29. However, the billionaire deferred it further with no mention of a specific date in a Monday tweet.
