WhatsApp introduces new security feature; Users to receive 6-digit code to access their accounts

The new feature allows you to instantly access your WhatsApp account on another smartphone...

Digital Desk: WhatsApp introduced a multi-device feature last year that allows users to access their WhatsApp accounts on other devices at the same time without using their smartphone. Adding to that feature, WhatsApp recently rolled out Companion Mode in a beta update for Android users. The new feature allows you to instantly access your WhatsApp account on another smartphone. As WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app on the globe, many users may be worried about their privacy if they access it on many devices. To address this issue, WhatsApp is reportedly beginning to push out a new authentication option for lucky beta testers.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature will enable you to securely log in to your WhatsApp account using a 6-digit code. In simple terms, the feature is similar to the one-time password (OTP) login, in which you are given a new 6-digit number each time you attempt to log in. According to the screenshot shared in the article, the Meta-owned messaging network provides numerous ways to obtain the 6-digit login code - to the main device through an app, message, or phone call.

You will be able to access your WhatsApp account on another device once you enter the 6-digit login code that you received on your primary device. As earlier said, the feature is only available to a select group of lucky Android beta testers. Although WhatsApp has not made any public announcements regarding the feature, it is anticipated that the security update will be included in upcoming builds.
