Digital Desk: Apple introduced a brand-new feature last year called App Tracking Transparency (ATT), which essentially allows consumers to choose whether apps can monitor them across different websites and apps. However, numerous advertising businesses, like Facebook, soon began to complain about their revenue declining after Apple debuted ATT. For consumers who want greater control over what and with whom they share data, this represents a significant advancement.
However, a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg now claims that Apple intends to grow its own advertising business. The tech giant currently runs advertisements on the iPad, iPhone, and Mac's App Store, News, and Stocks apps. Additionally, Apple recently added advertisements for Friday Night Baseball on TV+.
While the advertisements in the News and Stocks app resemble those on ad-supported websites, those in the App Store are for actual apps. Despite the fact that advertisements on news websites are quite frequent, it is uncommon for a paid iOS service like News+ to still feature advertisements.
Mark Gurma stated that in order to serve tailored adverts, the Cupertino-based Corporation will also combine data from its other services with that from the Apple account connected to the device. Apple will allow users to turn off the ad personalization feature, but the system will continue to log details like your carrier, device kind, and the material you've read.
The company claims that because the technology "does not track you across apps and websites operated by other firms," they are not required to display the ATT pop-up to users when gathering data. And if that weren't enough, the Cupertino-based tech giant will soon begin running advertisements on third-party software download pages as well as the Today tab in the App Store. Ads for apps like Maps, Books, and Podcasts will apparently be expanded by the iPhone manufacturer.
