    Digital Desk: There is some fascinating news that might interest before diving into what’s new on the social media platform. The Instagram has announced a massive change for  creator experience. With this new update, users can create Reels of up to 3 minutes duration with a new profile grid and a new tab adding all the videos that friends have liked.

    The reels have been one of the significant elements of Instagram, becoming insanely famous among the audience. To date, Reels had a maximum length of 90 seconds and many creators felt restricted by this length. In response to this problem, Instagram has extended the time to 3 minutes. This update was announced by the head of Instagram — Adam Mosseri through a video, revealing that it would be easier creators who want to share such content as stories, vlogs, educational clips, music clips etc. Not surprisingly, this happened when YouTube extended the length of its ‘Shorts’ to three minutes in a clear sign of rivalry.

    Now let’s consider major changes in layouts; there is a redesigned profile grid. Deleting the feature allowed previously square shaped content displayed on Instagram to be shown in full. Nevertheless, with the rise of vertical videos, the format of the main feed, which is divided into square and rectangle sections, has changed and it has caused positive impacts for Reels.

    Additionally, Instagram 'reel feed' which includes videos liked, commented and favored by friends or suggested for you. Earlier, users can see such activity in the ‘Activity Feed,’ and now it will be transferred to the new Reels tab. This feature makes it easier for users to find new content related to interest of friends they subscribe to.
