This feature, currently being tested, will temporarily block accounts flagged for suspicious activities from sending new messages. While they can still receive messages and calls, this restriction aims to prevent spam messages, telemarketing, and other forms of abuse.

When users attempt to start a new chat, they will see a pop-up notification telling them that their account has been restricted due to infractions such as sending spam or bulk messages.
This initiative comes in the wake of WhatsApp's efforts to comply with IT Rules 2021 and address concerns over fraudulent accounts, especially during critical events like the Lok Sabha 2024 elections. By empowering regular users to report abusive or suspicious behaviour, WhatsApp is leveraging community feedback to maintain a safer environment.
