The Rights of Women will be Protected but as per Sharia Law, says Taliban

Kabul: Addressing the press conference from inside the Presidential Palace in Kabul, after the seizure of Kabul, Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban Spokesperson said that the rights of women will be protected but “within the limits of Islamic law”. “The women are going to be very active in society, but within the framework of Islam,” Mujahid.

The Taliban wants a peaceful relation with other countries and they don’t want any “internal or external enemies”. “We want to assure our neighbouring countries that our land will not be misused against them. International community should also recognize us,” the spokesperson said. Calling the Ghani-led government “incompetent”, the plan was to stop at the gates of Kabul after capturing the rest of the areas. “We want to assure the security of international embassies and organizations in Kabul. Our plan was to stop at the gates of Kabul after capturing the rest of the areas but, unfortunately, the previous government was incompetent. They could not provide security. We will provide security to all foreign organizations now. We don’t seek any enemies. inside or outside Afghanistan,” Zabihullah Mujahid said.

When asked about the difference between the 1990s Taliban and the current one, Mujahid said that the beliefs and ideologies are the same because they are Muslims but there are changes in terms of their experience. They are more experienced and have different perspectives. To honour women’s rights within Islamic law is the vow which will be more focused on by the Taliban. The Taliban has pledged to honour women’s rights, but within the norms of Islamic law.

Mujahid also said the Taliban wanted private media to “remain independent,” but stressed journalists “should not work against national values.”

Mujahid said the Taliban fighters sought for no revenge policy. Many Afghans are living in stress and fear that if the Taliban return the country, then they would be the same as the last brutal ones and also the foreign officials said that they will wait to see if the insurgents make good on their promises.

“I would like to assure the international community, including the United States, that nobody will be harmed,” Mujahid. “In Afghanistan, I would like to assure our neighbors, our original countries we are not going to allow our territory to be used against anybody or any country in the world. So the whole global community should be assured that we are committed to these pleasures that you will not be harmed,” he said.
