Digital Desk: Children nowadays can do more than just wonders! Arishka Laddha, who is six years and five months old, has accomplished a stunning feat: she is the youngest person ever to summit Mount Everest Base Camp, which is located at an astounding height of more than 17,500 feet.

"ArishkaLaddha, 6, has made history by climbing Mt. Everest Base Camp in 15 days at a height of more than 17,500 feet." She braved the perilous climb while dressed in 7-8 layers of clothing, hoping to reach the summit soon. "Way to go, girl!" Ministry of Culture’s AzadikaAmritMahotav captioned an Instagram post.

The 'treacherous journey' was "almost no big deal" for the Pune resident, according to her mother Dimple, who took her daughter to a camp with little preparation. "She is a very active child who enjoys going for walks and playing with her friends." She was bursting with energy even after mounting the camp. So I reasoned, why not give her an experience that is above her wildest dreams? "It was an impromptu decision," marathon runner Dimple, 34, told indianexpress.com.

Dimple said that Arishka, a class two kid, has been walking 7-8 miles since she was four years old and has also been hiking hills in and around Pune.

Arishka and Dimple set off on their trek on April 8, 2023, and completed it in 15 days while wearing seven layers of clothes in temperatures ranging from -3 to -17 degrees Celsius.

Nonetheless, Dimple, who enjoys running, hiking, trekking, and cycling in addition to marathons, said that the aim was to enjoy the ride and take each day as it came. Dimple also talked about scaling camp after two C-sections, saying she wants to be a role model for women who believe their goals are cut short after childbirth.

Subsequently, Dimple stated that she intends to enroll Arishka in climbing groups if her daughter shows an interest. "It would be good to undertake more such expeditions in and around Pune, and then, if she shows more interest, there is nothing like formal coaching," Dimple remarked.
