Shukla shared his ordeal and criticized the lack of cooperation from the authorities...
Digital Desk: Mumbai, known as the "City of Dreams" and "Mayanagri," recently turned into a nightmare for Rajeev Shukla, a 35-year-old lawyer from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Shukla, eager to explore the city, opted for a veg meal from Barbeque Nation's Worli outlet on January 8, costing around Rs 641.
To his horror, as Shukla consumed a significant portion of the meal, he discovered a dead mouse. The shocking find led to food poisoning, and he had to be hospitalized at BMC’s BYL Nair Hospital for over three days. Outraged, Shukla reported the incident to Barbeque Nation, but his attempts to file an FIR at Nagpada Police Station reportedly faced resistance.
Expressing his dismay on social media, Shukla shared his ordeal and criticized the lack of cooperation from the authorities. He stated, "I am a Brahmin and a pure vegetarian, but when my Barbeque Nation order arrived, it gave me the shock of my life. The food contained a dead rat and cockroaches."
The incident gained public attention, raising concerns about food safety standards and customer well-being. It also highlighted the importance of prompt and efficient response mechanisms in handling such cases. As the story unfolds, the focus shifts not only to the alleged lapse in hygiene but also to the legal processes involved in seeking justice for such incidents.
He posted on X: “I Rajeev shukla (pure vegetarian) from prayagraj visited Mumbai, on 8th Jan’24 night ordered veg meal box from BARBEQUE NATION, worli outlet that a contained dead mouse, hospitalised for 75 plus hours. complaint has not been lodged at nagpada police station yet. Please help .”
For Shukla, what was supposed to be an exploration of Mumbai turned into a distressing experience, potentially overshadowing his memories of the "City of Dreams." The incident underscores the need for rigorous checks and balances in the food industry to ensure the safety and satisfaction of consumers.
