Digital Desk: Rajma is the definition of comfort in its purest form. All fans of Indian food adore the lovely combination it makes with rice.

However, the affection for Rajma is not confined to India alone. Unexpectedly, our humble bean dish has achieved prominence on the list of the world's best foods. Here are the latest rankings of the best 50 bean dishes worldwide, courtesy of TasteAtlas, a travel online guide for traditional food.

Notably, not one but two Rajma dishes received spots on the list. The ever-comforting Rajma Chawal combination achieved the 24th rank with a commendable rating of 4.1 out of 5, while Rajma took the 18th spot with an impressive rating of 4.2 out of 5.

"Red kidney beans were imported to the country from central Mexico and Guatemala, despite being closely connected with North India, where it is a staple food; however, the Mexican version of the dish is very dissimilar from the Indian one. Rajma continues to be one of the most popular vegetarian curries in Punjab and North India because it is filling and healthy," says Taste Atlas.

It was followed by the Iranian dish Khoresh Gheymeh, which is cooked with yellow split beans, came in second place. Tomatoes, onions, turmeric, and dried lime are all included in the traditional Iranian stewed meat.
