Digital Desk: A bizarre incident was reported after a woman in China chewed through an anti-theft cable to take an Apple iPhone 14 from an outlet store.
The woman was apprehended by Chinese police. In China, this high-end smartphone costs around 7,000 yuan (around Rs 79,000).
According to the South China Morning Post, surveillance cameras showed the woman, surnamed Qiu, gnawing on the cable that some establishments use to secure a device in one location. Qiu is shown halting in front of an iPhone display in a store in China's Fujian province and holding the phone in one hand.
She begins biting at the cable after a few moments to detach the gadget. She eventually succeeded and left with the iPhone 14 in her bag. She was detained, however, only 30 minutes after leaving the shop.
The store manager, Wang, stated that an alarm was activated during the crime. When store employees arrived to investigate, they discovered nothing amiss - the woman pretended to browse the phone whenever somebody passed by, allowing her to evade detection.
The iPhone safely was hidden, after that staff noticed the missing Apple gadget and notified authorities. According to CCTV footage, she bit through the security wire and walked away with the pricey item while store staff were completely unaware.
Officials reported that Qiu was apprehended outside of her residence when police tracked her down.
