a long life can be found if you are looking for the slightly strange.

Digital Desk: There are various methods for ageing gracefully and leading an active, healthy life full of good company.

Some believe that healthy nutrition and restful sleep are the secrets to a long life.

Then some contend that consistent exercise and a balanced diet can lengthen life.

These two responses are the most frequently given by persons who have lived well into their 90s or even past 100.

Elders who claim that frequently drinking wine is their secret to living a long life can be found if you are looking for the slightly strange.

But UK native Olive Westerman, who just turned 100, attributes her long life and good health to something entirely different.

She claims that the only way she has survived this long is by avoiding or not speaking to unfamiliar males at all.

With her late husband Sam, a writer and travel agent, Olive spent the majority of her life travelling.

There were no children born into the marriage.

Olive, a nursery nurse, claimed that caring for children kept her feeling young in heart even as she became older. She was joined by her close friends and family as she celebrated her 100th birthday in the same manner.

Olive gave sage advice for longevity at the meeting at Chester's Deewater Grange nursing home, stating, "Avoid talking to odd males and you'll be just fine."

Making the most of what we have also keeps our hearts young and content, she added.

"The finest piece of advice, in my opinion, is to simply enjoy life to the fullest and be grateful for what you have.
I've worked with kids a lot over the years, so this will undoubtedly help you stay young at heart.

I can't believe I'm 100 now, but it feels incredible.
When I got a card from King Charles and Camilla, I was overjoyed "

The centenarian is well-known in her neighbourhood for her sense of humour and travel expertise.
