Nitish Kumar wins trust vote; BJP stages walkout

Digital Desk: The grand coalition government led by Nitish Kumar won the motion of confidence by voice vote, amid the opposition BJP's walkout in the Assembly. The deputy speaker of the assembly called for the counting of votes in support of the government at the request of minister Vijay Chaudhary.

Kumar established his majority in the 243-member house via voice vote, with 160 votes in his favour and zero against the 'Mahagathbandhan' alliance government.

During the motion of confidence discussion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that the Modi government has taken credit for several state government schemes. He further claimed that the "Har Ghar Jal" initiative was the work of the state government. "The scheme for rural roads was introduced during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration.  You are children; take lessons. The central government should not take credit for this," Kumar said.

Earlier in the Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister, attacked the Central government and claimed that the BJP had three sons-in-law: the CBI, ED, and IT. He further stated that the BJP will launch these agencies against people who will not be bowed down or bought over.
