Director Sanoj Mishra, well known for his hard-hitting films like The Diary of West Bengal, has picked Monalisa for his new feature, The Diary of Manipur. Mishra has been in contact with Monalisa's father and is flying over soon to meet her and sign the contract.
Monalisa shot to fame in no time when videos of her selling garlands went viral, her innocent looks creating a frenzy among netizens. Visitors to the Mahakumbh fair flocked to meet her, boosting her popularity. Though she tried to be inconspicuous by putting on a mask, her hit brownie-known eyes were widely recognized everywhere.
Sanoj Mishra mentions that Monalisa has been cast in The Diary of Manipur drawing parallels from her real life-Monalisa comes from a lower middle-class nomadic family, selling garlands for a living, and will portray the character of an army-officer's daughter from Manipur, who aspires to join the army but faces a great deal of trouble achieving her dream, which runs parallel to Monalisa's life. Mishra stressed that the movie tells a story of fighting against all odds to achieve one's dreams.
Mishra's crew will prepare her for her role in acting skills. “We want to see that her performance reflects her natural innocence and carefree nature,” he said. Mishra further stated that the film world is not about attractiveness, but about acting, and he is confident that Monalisa has what it takes to become a brilliant artist. With her story already capturing the audience's interest, audiences await Monalisa's grand entry into Bollywood.
