After half-pant now lungi: Students expelled for wearing lungi during online exam

Dinajpur: Three students from Dinajpur's Hajee Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, have been expelled for taking an online exam while wearing lungi.

The controversy arose during the semester final test of the 20th batch of the University’s Engineering Faculty’s Food Process and Engineering Department. The students were expelled, but not for the lungis but for virtually breaking the rules and decorum of an examination, according to the faculty.

It has been reported that a student identified as Fahad, took part in the improvement exam. He was dismissed minutes after taking the online exam which began at 12:30 pm. Soon after, two more students were expelled after the invigilator noticed the students wearing lungis.

Meanwhile, a similar incident took place in Assam's Tezpur after a female candidate was not allowed to appear in an entrance test by an educational institute authority for wearing a half-pant to the exam centre.

The female student was asked to wrap her legs in curtains and then allowed to sit for the exam. This incident brought mixed reaction on social media platforms.
