Digital Desk: A researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology has made astounding claims about the coronavirus, claiming that China manufactured the virus as a "bioweapon" and that his colleagues were given four variants of the virus to see which could spread most effectively.

According to ANI, Chao Shao, a researcher from Wuhan, made these surprising disclosures in an exclusive interview with Jennifer Zeng, a member of the International Press Association who gives first-hand information and unique insights about China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

In the 26-minute interview, Chao Shao shares an anecdote about how Shan Chao, another researcher from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, confessed that his superior gave him four coronavirus strains to test and asked him to find out which one had the best ability to infect as many species as possible as well as how simple it was to infect other species, including humans.

Chao Shao also described the coronavirus as a "bioweapon," the report added.

Chao Shao disclosed the tragic story of the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan, where some of his colleagues went missing. Later, one of them disclosed that they were sent to hotels where athletes from other countries were staying to "check the health or hygiene conditions."

Chao Shan felt that they were put there to spread the infection because verifying cleanliness does not require virologists.

"Furthermore, in April 2020, Chao Shan stated that he was sent to Xinjiang to assess the health of Uyghurs imprisoned in re-education camps in order for them to be released sooner. Again, since performing health checks doesn't necessitate a virologist, he strongly hinted that he was sent there to either transmit the virus or to watch how the virus operated on humans," said Chao Shao in the interview.

Chao Shan himself revealed the aforementioned shocking information to the interviewee between March and April 2020.

However, as the whistleblower pointed out during the interview, this is only one piece of the puzzle.

COVID-19 origins remain a mystery

Meanwhile, according to a declassified report released Friday, US intelligence agencies were unable to determine whether researchers at a laboratory in Wuhan, China, who fell ill in the fall of 2019 were infected with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, the disease that quickly spread around the world.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence released information regarding scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who were ill in 2019 before the first reported COVID-19 illnesses, as well as coronavirus research undertaken at the lab by the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

However, none of the revealed intelligence definitely linked lab-related operations to the pandemic, which has killed over 7 million people.

The report comes months after President Biden signed a bill into law requiring the declassification of intelligence relating to the pandemic's possible links to the laboratory. It will do little to settle the contentious issue over how the COVID-19 outbreak began, which has already sparked partisan conflicts and investigations.
