Digital Desk: The country's geophysics service reported two large earthquakes struck Indonesia's Banda Sea region on Wednesday.

According to the service, the first quake was 45 kilometres deep, while the second was 10 kilometres deep.

The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a 6.9 magnitude earthquake in the Banda Sea region of Indonesia on Wednesday.

The quake was located 370 kilometres (229.9 miles) southeast of Ambon, Indonesia, and had a depth of 146 km, according to EMSC. The earthquake posed no tsunami risk, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PWTC).

According to the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency, or BMKG, the tremor was felt moderately in the town of Saumlaki in the archipelago's Tanimbar Islands.

Notably, Indonesia lies on the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire," a region of significant seismic activity atop many tectonic plates.
