Digital Desk: US President Joe Biden’s Commander, the two-year-old German Shepherd has bitten another US Secret Service agent inside the White House. Notably, this is the dog's 11th time to bite a White House guard.
Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the United States Secret Service (USSS), was quoted by CNN as saying, "A Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer was bitten by a First Family pet at around 8:00 p.m yesterday. The officer was treated by medical staff on the complex."
According to Guglielmi, the injured officer spoke with Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Alfonso M. Dyson Senior on Tuesday and is doing well.
Notably, CNN reports that Biden's dog Commander has been responsible for at least 11 biting incidents at the White House and in Delaware, including one in November 2022 where an officer was taken to the hospital after the dog clamped down on their arms and legs.
After his attacks, White House representatives earlier in July stated that the Bidens were implementing new training and leash procedures for the family pet.
"The First Family continues to look for methods to support Commander in managing the frequently unpredictable nature of the White House grounds," according to a statement from Elizabeth Alexander, the First Lady's communications director.
"The President and First Lady are incredibly grateful to the Secret Service and Executive Residence staff for all they do to keep them, their family, and the country safe," she added.
Major, the other dog owned by Biden, also has a history of biting at the White House. Later, the German Shepherd was moved out of the White House, and in 2021, the Commander moved in, as reported by CNN.
