Digital Desk: Isak Andic, the man whose Mango chain of high street and tour fashion stores is geared as the UK’s biggest clothes retailer, died the other Saturday after he tumbled down a mountaineers’ ravine while exploring the Montserrat mountain ranges near Barcelona. The man—71 years old—was trekking with his son and other relatives during the tragedy, according to Spanish outlets.

is characterized by many caves and prompted the authorities to launch a rescue mission, which the victims described as a search and rescue exercise of a woman who had fallen down a hole of about 150 meters deep. The accident was reported to the police about 1:00 p.m. local time. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said Andic passed away and condemned the attack, calling him a great visionary businessman.
Andic started Mango men’s wear in 1984 with his brother, Nahman, in Barcelona. Hinh Anh was eventually transformed from a small legend into an international fashion legend with 2,960 stores in 120 countries. Offering the latest fashion at comparatively lower prices, Mango is a worthy competitor of fast fashion market leader Inditex, which owns Zara.
Andic’s absence from the company is still felt by Mango’s current employees and CEO Toni Ruiz, who said, “His loss is immense, but we are all, in a way, Andic’s
memory and proof of his work.” Andic emigrated to Spain’s Catalonia province in the 1960s with his family. At the time of his death, he was Mango’s non-executive chairman—basically released from most operational duties. The great achievements he made on Mango to become an international fashion company provided him the status of a leading figure in the fashion industry.
A fast fashion company that has shown flexibility when it comes to addressing new
trends in the fashion world, Mango is also a worthy contender of Zara in terms of affordable clothing sets, primarily from regions like Türkiye and Asia. After the company reached new heights in 2011 when British supermodel Kate Moss signed with the brand.
Unfortunately, now and again, an extraordinary ‘creative spirit’ and an entire generation pass away as we bid Andic, an icon of the fashion industry, farewell. The man was a billionaire who made his own wealth, and his life was the real-life example of hard work and invention. His death is not only a loss for Mango, but for any business involved in fashion retailing across the world. As the company develops, it survives as the proof of the Andic’s business acumen and vision that was put into practice.
