The tourism authority expects more people to visit the valley as it would be the peak of India's summer season in the next two months.
Digital Desk: After the removal of Covid-19-related travel restrictions, Kashmir, which is given the title as the paradise on Earth, is luring tourists in massive numbers. According to information from the Kashmir tourism department, the valley had a footfall of approximately 1.8 lakh tourists in March this year, the most in a decade.
According to Tourism Director G N Itoo, 1,79,970 tourists visited Kashmir in March 2022, a new high in the last ten years. "This is a record figure, and we expect it to rise even higher."
The credit for the record number of tourist arrivals goes to all of the stakeholders' combined efforts," he told the publication.
The tourism department has launched the first hot-air balloon ride in Srinagar's Zabarwan Park to attract more visitors. Not only that, but the department also intends to introduce adventurous sports such as paragliding.
Sarmad Hafeez, the tourism secretary, stated that roadshows are being held in Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Kolkata to spread the word and attract more tourists.
"All of the hotels and houseboats are fully booked for the next two months this year, which is a good omen."
People visiting Kashmir in the following months, according to Hafeez, will have a one-of-a-kind experience.
The state will also host the annual Amarnath Yatra, which will begin on June 30 and last for 43 days. The yatra was put on hold due to a pandemic-related lockdown.
