Digital Desk: Source reveals that China, which is already embroiled in a border stalemate with India, has begun developing border defence villages near to Uttarakhand. These border communities, totaling 250 dwellings, are being constructed 11 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
China has also been involved in the construction of 55-56 dwellings approximately 35 kilometres away from the LAC, which are still under the supervision of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). It intends to build 400 towns along the border's eastern sector alone.
Uttarakhand and China share a 350-kilometer boundary. Most border settlements experience outward migration due to a lack of livelihood possibilities.
These villages are large complexes with all the amenities. The Indian Army previously stated that it was watching the situation along the LAC, which is India's border with China.

A six-kilometer-long tunnel will be built between Bundi and Garbiyang on the Ghatiabagar-Lipulekh route in Uttarakhand to improve access to the last border station of the Lipulekh pass on the India-China border, according to a senior BRO officer.
"ATINOK India Consultants has been awarded the contract for tunnel survey work." "The company has begun survey work and will submit its final proposal in a year," said Project Hirak Chief Engineer Vimal Goswami.
He pointed out that the Rs 2,000-crore project might start in four to five years.
"In light of the proposed tunnel, the BRO has kept the border road from Bundi to Garbiyang single lane, while the rest of it will be double lane," Goswami explained.
According to a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officer, the border road, which was completed in 2020, is now black-topped and double-laned.
He claims that the majority of the double-laning work has been finished.
