    Digital Desk:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed his two-day trip to France as "memorable." On Friday, PM Modi served as the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, with President Emmanuel Macron. Both parties exchanged gifts during the diplomatic visit.


    PM Modi handed gifts handpicked and manufactured by indigenous artisans to Macron, First Lady Brigitte Macron, and President of the National Assembly of France Yelle Braun-Pivet. PM Modi was later hosted by the French government and First Lady Brigitte Macron for a gala supper at the Louvre Museum.


    Kashmiri Silk Carpet 


    Modi opted for a hand-knitted silk Kashmiri carpet for French National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet and a sandalwood hand-carved elephant Ambavari for French Senate President Gerard Larcher.






    Sitar made of Sandalwood


    Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented French President Emanuel Macron with a sandalwood copy of the classical instrument sitar.


    This ornamental replica, given to the president, depicts Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning, holding the musical instrument sitar, and Lord Ganesha. 




    According to officials, the one-of-a-kind copy of the musical instrument is crafted of pure sandalwood, and the technique of sandalwood carving is an elegant and old craft that has been practised for generations in southern India.


    They mentioned the sculpture is illustrated with peacocks, India's national bird, and ornamented with beautiful carvings that reflect the many motifs from Indian culture.


    Pochampally Silk Ikat 


    According to them, the Pochampally silk ikat fabric, which has its origins in the Telangana town of Pochampally, is a mesmerising tribute to India's rich textile tradition. 




    The Pochampally silk ikat saree, known for its intricate designs and brilliant colours, encapsulates the beauty, artistry, and cultural legacy of India, making it a true gem in the world of textiles, they said.


    Work table with marble inlay for French PM


    The exhibition 'Marble Inlay Work' included complex artwork done on marble with semi-precious stones. The base marble was discovered in Makrana, a village in Rajasthan known for its high-quality marble.




     The marble masterpiece was handed by the prime minister to his French colleague, Elisabeth Borne.
