Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed his respect for the Indian flag by picking it up from the ground during the group photo at the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

While standing for a picture with the leaders of BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Modi noticed that the Indian Tricolor had fallen to the ground. He immediately picked it up and carried it with him.

Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, watched Modi's gesture and later picked up his flag after stepping on it.

On social media, the incident garnered a lot of positive feedback, with many individuals praising PM Modi for showing respect for the national flag.

Notably, PM Modi and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping were seen standing apart in the BRICS Summit group photo, while South African President Cyril Ramaphosa folded hands.

Along with PM Modi and President Jinping, other BRICS leaders joining in the photo were Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
