    A massive campaign to promote cleanliness has been launched in honour of Gandhi Jayanti called "Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath."

    Digital Desk: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi's Rajghat on Monday.

    PM Modi in a post on X said Mahatma Gandhi had an immense impact on the world. He also urged people to work hard to fulfill Gandhi's dreams.

    "I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi's impact is global, motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over," the Prime Minister said in his post.

    On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Delhi Lieutenant Governor LG Saxena both paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi, was a leader in the freedom struggle against colonial British control. He was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat.

    This led to India's independence being achieved in 1947. His unwavering commitment to "Swaraj" (self-governance) and "Ahimsa" (non-violence), also known affectionately as "Bapu," earned him honours from all over the world.

    International Day of Non-Violence is a day set aside each year to commemorate Gandhi's birth.
     
    Swachh Bharat is a shared obligation, and every effort matters, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who on Friday announced the start date of a cleaning campaign that would begin on October 1 to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.

    A massive campaign to promote cleanliness has been launched in honour of Gandhi Jayanti called "Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath." This program is a lead-up to the "Swachhata Pakhwada- Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign in 2023.

    PM Modi urged everyone throughout the nation to participate in the cleanliness campaign, saying doing so would be a significant step towards realising Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a clean India.
