Supreme Court to hear Baba Ramdev plea on July 12

New Delhi: Baba Ramdev’s plea in the Apex court seeking a stay on proceedings in connection with multiple FIRs lodged over his remarks against the efficiency of allopathy in covid-19 treatment to be heard on July 12.

A bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana said, “Yesterday night at 11 pm, we got bulky files having copies of statements and videos and posted the hearing into the matter for next week.”

Earlier, the bench asked Baba Ramdev to place all the original records made by him on the alleged statements against allopathy treatment.

Ramdev in his plea sought a stay on the proceedings in multiple FIRs lodged against him in Patna and Raipur following complaints by the Indian Medical Association.

A complaint was filed against Baba Ramdev on June 16 by Raipur’s Indian Medical Association (IMA) unit against Ramdev’s alleged remarks against the use of allopathic medicine during the covid-19 pandemic.

Raipur and Patna IMA unit in its FIR stated that Ramdev’s remarks are likely to cause prejudice to the covid-19 control mechanism and it may persuade people from getting the treatment against the pandemic.

In the video, Baba Ramdev allegedly said that “Allopathy is a stupid science and medicines such as Remdesivir, Fabiflu and other drugs approved by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) have failed to treat covid-19 pandemic.”
