consecutive year in 2021.

Decline
in criminal cases

year, 60,96,310 offences were reported across the nation. When compared to
66,01,285 cases in 2020, this represented a 7.6% decrease in all offences.
According
to the data, "crime rate registered per lakh population has fallen from
487.8 in 2020 to 445.9 in 2021." "During 2021, the number of cases
registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) decreased by 13.9%, whilst the
number of offences under special and local laws (SLL) increased by 3.7% over
2020."
