Digital Desk: Twitter users started using the hashtag #Boycott Amazon after the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti claimed on Friday that the e-commerce giant was selling 'obscene' paintings of Radha and Krishna.

Members of the Hindu organization submitted a memorandum to the Subramanya Nagar police station in Bengaluru asking for action against Amazon.

According to the organization, Exotic India sold the same painting on its website during the Janmashtami sale. Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated on August 18 and 19.

In a later tweet, the organization stated that both Amazon and Exotic India had deleted the painting from their websites. "But this is not enough. Both Amazon and Exotic India must provide an unequivocal apology and make a commitment to never again insult Hindus," it added.

Till now, Amazon has not issued any statement over the controversy
