CBI searches Karti Chidambaram's Chennai house in Chinese visa case
On June 24, the Delhi High Court postponed the hearing on the Congress leader's request for anticipatory relief until July 12.

Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday searched Congress leader Karti Chidambaram's home in Chennai.

According to CBI sources quoted by ANI, "the searches were done in connection with an alleged Chinese visa scam, as part of a search that remained incomplete before because a few biometric lockers could not be inspected."

On June 24, the Delhi High Court postponed the hearing on the Congress leader's request for anticipatory relief until July 12.

In a money laundering case associated with the Chinese visa matter, Chidambaram had filed a plea with the court asking for anticipatory bail.
Karti Chidambaram has been accused of accepting Rs 50 lakhs in order to illegitimately help obtain visas for 263 Chinese nationals to finish a power project in Punjab.

Meanwhile, P Chidambaram, his father and a prominent member of the Congress, served as the Union's home minister at the time in 2011, but he is not listed as a suspect in the FIR.

Notably, four additional people were also arrested by the CBI, including Chidambaram's chartered accountant S Bhaskararaman, Bell Tools in Mumbai, and Vikas Makharia, a representative of Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd, a private corporation with offices in Mansa.
