Manish Sisodia was accused of giving liquor industry executives a 30 crore rupee exemption and extending licenses depending on their preferences.
Digital Desk: In connection with the controversy over the excise policy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will check Manish Sisodia's bank vault on Tuesday.
According to Sisodia, the investigation team will check his account and locker at the bank office on Tuesday.
"They will be in your locker tomorrow to look it over. They found nothing throughout the day-long raid either. Lockers also would not contain anything. ready for it and will assist the CBI fully," Monday saw a tweet from Sisodia.
Reportedly, the investigation will include an examination of bank lockers. It must be noted on the charge sheet.
The CBI has filed an FIR against the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and 15 other individuals and businesses as part of an inquiry into suspected irregularities in the execution of the Delhi excise policy.
The subjects of the CBI's FIR are Sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 477-A (Falsification of Accounts) of the Indian Penal Code.
Sisodia is accused of exempting liquor industry executives worth Rs 30 crore. License holders allegedly received extensions at their discretion. The alleged violation of excise laws led to the creation of the policy norms.
According to the FIR, "Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the then Commissioner (Excise); Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise); and Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were instrumental in recommending and taking decisions pertaining to excise policy for the years 2021–22 without the approval of competent authority to extend undue favours to the licence holders."
On August 19, the federal investigation agency raided 31 locations, including Sisodia's residence, as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in the Delhi government's Excise Policy 2021-22.
"The FIR filed against me is wholly fabricated. I have not been corrupt, and the BJP is behaving like a serial killer to overthrow state governments. Instead of trying to overthrow state governments, they ought to have been building hospitals and schools," according to Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia has asserted that he was wrongfully charged with thwarting Arvind Kejriwal's bid to unseat Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. Kejriwal is the chief minister of Delhi.
