    Delhi: 171 meat shops sealed from Apr-Jul for violating norms

    The MCD has urged the owners of such meat shops whose licences have expired to renew them before the deadline passes, warning that failure to do so will result in the closure of their establishments.


    Digital Desk: Civic authorities in Delhi closed 171 meat shops between April and July for operating "without a licence." They also received a fine from the MCD in the amount of Rs 52,33,960, officials reported on Saturday.

    The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) stated in a statement that it is dedicated to enforcing its "policy of zero tolerance" against unlicensed, illicit meat markets.

    The MCD has urged the owners of such meat shops whose licences have expired to renew them before the deadline passes, warning that failure to do so will result in the closure of their establishments.

    Civic officials have taken action against unlicensed meat shops, closing 171 of them between April and July of this year and fining them roughly Rs 52,33,960, it added.
