First Time In Decades: Amul Reduces Milk Prices By Rs. 1 Per Litre Across India

Digital Desk: Amul, the leading dairy brand has reduced milk prices of its 1 litre pouches by Rs. 1 across India. Amul brand has been selling dairy products and is running under Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). The new prices are effective from January 24, 2025. 

 
With the latest development, the new rates for Amul Gold Milk will be Rs. 67 in Delhi, while Amul Taaza will be priced at Rs. 55 per litre. The revised rates will encourage people to buy larger packets of milk and aim at making milk more affordable.

Announcing the price cut, GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta told a news agency, "We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by Rs. 1 per litre across India. This is to encourage consumers to buy larger packs of milk and get incentive for the same."

Jayen Mehta told another news agency, "Amul has reduced the price of milk by Rs 1 in Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special 1 kg pack."

According to reports, GCMMF's turnover increased by 8 percent to Rs 59,445 crore in FY 2023-24. The report also added that the cooperative handled an average of 310 lakh litres of milk per day in the last fiscal year. Earlier, Jayen Mehta also said that the cooperative is aiming for double-digit revenue during this fiscal year.

World's largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, GCMMF has 36 lakh farmers in 18,600 villages of Gujarat and produces 300 lakh litres of milk per day. According to the International Farm Cooperation Network (IFCN), GCMMF is placed at 8th position across the globe in terms of milk processing.

The cooperative also exports dairy products to more than 50 countries in the world. It was successful in its attempt to enter into the US market last year with four variants of fresh milk.
