tainted water in Mathuapur in the Nadia district on Saturday, a 12-year-old
pupil in that area died and at least 50 locals were ill.

ill in recent days. The passing of a teenager shocked the villagers. Others
have had diarrhea.

condition got worse. He was then directed to a Kalyani government hospital.
Midway through his sickness, he passed away.
The town has already
received a medical team. At least 11 residents were taken to the hospital and
placed there in critical condition. Officials believe that this atrocity may
have been caused by contaminated water. There are further studies under
progress. Villagers' drinking water samples have been sent for testing.
