According to the information received, the court asked that the Center and the Manipur government provide details of the FIRs filed on the matter.
Speaking on the matter, CJI DY Chandrachud stated that this is not an incident like Nirbhaya, which was one rape committed - which was also horrible but it was isolated. "We are dealing with systemic violence here, which the IPC recognizes as a separate offense. So, in order to reestablish trust in the administration, a court-assigned team will send a message that the highest appointed court is deeply concerned—it will send officers with no political allegiance," he added.
