Digital Desk: A coordinated mission by Assam Rifles and the Customs Department conducted at Badarghat, West Tripura resulted in an unexpected seizure of 1.15 kg of gold during the anti-smuggling drive.
The 1.15 kilograms of gold that Assam Rifles and Customs Department intercepted includes 14 bars along with unfinished 24-carat ornaments which have a market value of Rs 1.02 crore. The intelligence reports indicate the Dubai-originating package crossed through Bangladesh before having its processing point in Tripura until reaching its final destination in New Delhi. Officials detained two members of the illegal operation which continues under current investigation.
Drugs worth Rs 10.29 crore seize
Separately the joint forces executed a well-planned operation which yielded the massive seizure of 2,286.9 kg of marijuana with a global market value of Rs 10.29 crore from Bejoynagar in West Tripura. A drug interception operation stands as the biggest drug seizure to occur in region’s history.
Security forces acted on confirmed intelligence data to stop an enormous drug shipment from entering the marketplace. Two people received detention as security forces conducted their operation and the confiscated substances went to the relevant legal entities for investigation.
