Adityanath emphasized that the relentless cycle of elections poses a significant hindrance to crucial developmental projects.
As speculations swirl regarding the Narendra Modi government's intent to implement the "One Nation, One Election" concept, a special session of Parliament scheduled for September 18–22 is garnering heightened attention. To delve deeper into this transformative idea, a committee has been assembled, and it is noteworthy that former President Ram Nath Kovind has been appointed as its chairman.
In response to this pivotal development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed the move, characterizing it as a "praiseworthy effort." He also expressed his satisfaction with the choice of former President Kovind to lead the committee, highlighting the wealth of experience that Kovind brings to the table.

Drawing from his own experience in overseeing the state of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Adityanath elucidated the challenges posed by frequent elections. He emphasized that conducting elections for various levels of government takes up approximately two months of valuable time, during which essential developmental initiatives are put on hold.
"On behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh, I express gratitude towards the Prime Minister for this initiative. 'One Nation, One Election' is a necessity in today's India," Adityanath said. He further emphasized that election-related interruptions adversely affect development projects and hinder the formulation of new policies.
"During the election process, crucial development works and the introduction of new policies get stalled. It is imperative that we synchronize Lok Sabha, Assembly, and all other elections to minimize these disruptions. I wholeheartedly welcome this step," Adityanath added.
The concept of "One Nation, One Poll" has been championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he assumed office in 2014. It seeks to alleviate the financial burden and interruptions in development caused by the frequent electoral cycles in the country. The idea has gained traction as a potential means to streamline India's electoral process and enhance governance efficiency.
As discussions continue, all eyes will remain on the upcoming special parliamentary session in September, where the fate of "One Nation, One Election" could take a definitive turn, reshaping India's political landscape.
