Rahul Gandhi criticises the government for not offering senior citizens discounted rail tickets

Gandhi, a former president of the Congress, criticised the BJP-led Centre on
Friday for refusing to provide senior citizens discounts on train tickets and
claimed that while it can do everything for its "friends," it will
make the average person yearn for every dollar.

Additionally, he noted
the funds the government had spent on commercials, a new plane, and tax breaks
for "friends."

"The cost of
advertising is Rs. 911 crore. 8,400 crores for a new plane. A yearly tax
exemption of Rs. 1,45,000 crore is given to friends in business. However, the
government lacks the Rs 1,500 crore necessary to offer senior citizens
discounted train tickets. will make people yearn for every rupee, even if it
means reaching for the stars (tare tak tod kar layenge) "Gandhi stated in

Senior citizens used to receive discounts of up to 50% on
rail tickets from the government, however this policy has been halted ever
since COVID-19 was discovered.
