    Digital Desk: The Trophy unveiling ceremony for the Kokrajhar Chapter of the 132nd Edition of the Durand Cup was held at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar with Kalyan Chaubey, President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), as the chief guest while Major General Dinesh Hooda, Chief of Staff, Gajraj Corps, served as the chief host.

    Kalyan Chaubey, Maj. Gen. Dinesh Hooda, Promod Boro, Chief Executive Member, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Major General M. Mahendroo, Vice Chairman Durand Organising Committee, Nandita Gorlosa, Minister, Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam, and Major General S. Murugesan, General Officer Commanding Red Horns Division jointly unveiled the three trophies of the historic Durand Cup.

    The U-20 Indian Women's Football team captain, Apurna Narzary, as well as news staff and neighbourhood sports fans, attended the unveiling ceremony. Following the unveiling of the trophy, a Bodo cultural festival featuring performances by world-record-holding musician Dr. Gwmwtao Basumatary and the Bardwi Sikhla and Bihu dances was held.

    The only competition in the nation that pits Service Teams against the best teams from various football divisions in India is the 132nd Edition of the renowned Durand Cup football event, which is organised by the Indian Army on behalf of the three Services.

    On August 3, 2023, the tournament is scheduled to begin in Kolkata, with Kokrajhar hosting nine matches, including one quarterfinal. The first game will take place on August 5, 2023, between Bodoland FC and Rajasthan United FC. At the SAI stadium in Kokrajhar, all of the games will be played. The final game in Kolkata is slated for September 3, 2023, while the quarterfinal in Kokrajhar is set for August 24, 2023. The Durand Cup is being held at Kokrajhar for the first time.

    Maj Gen Dinesh Hooda, Chief of Staff, Gajraj Corps, addressed the group and spoke about the long link between the Indian Armed Forces and the Durand Cup, its three trophies, and its rich history. He thanked the Assam government and the Bodoland Territorial Council for their unwavering support of the armed forces during the competition.

    Thirty motorbikes, five of which were female, guided the trophy tour of Kokrajhar, which included stops at Pragati Bhawan, the Civil Hospital (RNB Road), the KDSA Playground, Habrubari, and the SAI Complex, among other locations.

    The 12 clubs from the Indian Super League (ISL) are among the 24 teams competing in the Durand Cup this year. The legacy event will also feature service teams from Bangladesh and Nepal.

    It has been 27 years since foreign teams last took part in the tournament. A rare accomplishment for the neighbourhood club of Kokrajhar, the Bodoland FC will be participating in the Durand Cup for the first time.
    Matches in Kokrajhar will begin on August 5 at SAI stadium with a grand opening ceremony that will feature special events like a fly-past by Air Force aircraft, sky diving, and martial arts demonstrations by the Indian Army for the first time.
