    Digital Desk: A ferry carrying passengers was left stranded after leaving the shores of Majuli, Assam, on Wednesday.


    According to preliminary reports, there are as many as 101 persons onboard the ferry that was stranded on the Brahmaputra River near Majuli.


    Reportedly, the ferry left the Nimati Ghat at around 7.30 a.m. this morning and was on its way to the Kamalabari Ghat when it got stranded.


    Apart from passengers, the ferry also carries several vehicles, including two-wheelers.


    Meanwhile, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was dispatched to the scene of the incident to take measures to ensure the passengers' safety.


    Earlier, on June 19, the ferry MV Lohit went missing in the middle of Assam's Brahmaputra River while en route to Majuli.


    Reportedly, the ferry was heading towards Kamalabari, Majuli from Nimati Ghat in Jorhat.


    According to reports, the ferry carrying 134 passengers and 32 bikes left Nimati Ghat at 1.30 p.m., but it vanished in the dense fog.


    Concerns about the safety of the people on board the ferry escalated over time. Responding quickly, the SDRF launched a search and rescue mission from Kamalabari.


    Authorities have intensified their rescue efforts in an attempt to locate the missing ferry and its passengers.
